Perhaps the title is misleading but Clode was one of only 9 men to earn the Wepener clasp whose medal was issued off the SAC roll.

Why misleading? Because he earned the clasp with 2 Brabant's Horse before transferring to the South African Constabulary later in 1900.

He was also wounded at Middlepan (erroneously recorded as Bessie's Pan) on 11 August 1901.
