There is a Gunner ( Corpl. ) J. Laflamme of the Royal Canadian Field Artillery listed for the 1902 Canadian Coronation Contingent on Stephen's list. The rank in parantheses indicates that he was a Corpl. but paraded as a Gunner for the trip.
Additional information passed on by member of BMF.....
I believe that there were 140 Canada reverse EVII LSGCs awarded, and have recorded the survival of seven of these. Of the seven, six are paired with Canada reverse KGV MSMs. Of note, there appear to have been 49 of these pairs awarded, suggesting a survival rate of at least 12% so far.
Laflamme's group is the only one I have recorded surviving which has an Edward VII reverse LSGC & MSM. (Note: There has been one other Edward VII pair found since this was written)
You often see a King George V LSGC with a Edward VII MSM, the Canadian Government found out that there was to be a pension given with the MSM and they stopped issuing it till that had been resolved which was after 1910.
See MYB - 212 and 248 - MYB states that the MSM & LSGC have the same ribbon as the British version but other books state that there was a Red/Crimson Ribbon with a Central White stripe.
Laflamme appears to have earned the 1902 Coronation rather than the 1911 Coronation, as he is on the roll for the former as Gunner (Corporal) J. Laflamme, Royal Canadian Field Artillery, and does not appear in the 1911 roll.
The 1911 Coronation medals shown both have the same reverse even though they are of different sizes. The larger version has LaFlamme's Number / Rank / Name / Unit engraved on it..... Now there is a puzzle where did they come from.....
