I am researching the award of the DCM to 2420 Sgt Alfred Lees, Liverpool Regiment.

Alfred served with his regiment during the Defence of Ladysmith and was afterwards engaged in the action at Geluk's farm. I have located a report in the Lancashire Evening Post that states:-

"...Bravery too, I believe, was shown by the colour-sergeant. He held his position with only eight men, and I must say he was lucky in escaping unhurt."

I believe that the Colour Sergeant referred to is Alfred Lees; does anyone have any evidence in support?
