Fabius,

This is the problem of compiling a medal roll from multiple sources. For this person I took the initials E H from the KTG roll and there was a secondary source which also gave the same initials. So, despite the initials being E N on the IMR roll, I took the majority view and went with E H.

It is good to know what the actual initials are so that I can correct the information on my site. Had more QSAs been extant, my job of compiling the roll would have been a lot easier.

With thanks
David

Clarification: Upon closer examination the medal has what appears to be an official correction, from C F James to C H James. While CF was entitled to the DoK bar C H was entitled medal only. I finally found him on a roll page by himself. On the roll page it is written: O.R.C SECTION, LOCOMOTIVE DEPARTMENT. C H was listed as a fireman. Ink Stamp at bottom: CENTRAL SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS OFFICE OF THE CHIEF LOCO SUPT 1 FEB 1907.
