A recent aquisition and my 1st Wepener.
376 Daniel Ballock Brabant's Horse attested on 28 November 1899 his age is stated as 26 and his trade is wagonmaker.
He was taken prisoner at Browns Farm on 7th February 1900
Further papers show he attested for Scotts Railway Guards (Mounted) on 20 March 1901 in Capetown.
His address is stated as 87 Loop Street Capetown and his next of kin is his Father residing at Louisa Street King William Town.
Daniels Brother David later attested for the Scotts Railway Guards, he is shown as living at the same address.
Daniel was discharged on the 14th September 1901
His QSA was awarded with the following clasps:
Cape Colony,Wepener,Transvaal and Witterbergen.

Looks a treat and great story. I do wonder what happened to all those horse tradepersons when the internal combustion engine took over or overtook the horse.

He is shown on Kaplan's roll incorrectly as Baldock!

Tes interestingly enough his Brother is listed as coachmaker, which I assume is within the same trade.
