Methinks Frank is going to be on prescription medicine soon at the rate we are adding Carbineer linked recipients!

Where (from what book) did that photo come? I have th history of the DLI but don't remember seeing that photo.

Regards

Rory

Good Morning Rory.....

I am sorry but I do not know which book it came from it was sent to me by a member of BMF a number of years ago..... Infact I thought that I had lost the photo when my computer caught fire but the tech people were able to salvage some of the information.... And I found it when I was searching through the old infor to add to my catalogue / medal records.....

The postman delivered these to me this morning :cheer:

904 Trooper Sidney Mindon Wheeler Natal Carbineers QSA and 262 Natal Volunteer Composite KSA
Medal rolls confirm all clasps
Trooper Wheeler had previous service with the Colonial Scouts from 30/11/99 and joined the Carbineers on 26/03/00
If anyone can offer any other information it would be gratefully received.

Paul

That is a very nice pair to a Natalian. There is a Death Notice in the Pietermaritzburg Repository of the SA National Archives for Sidney Minden Wheeler (367/1949), but nothing else that I noticed. This suggests that he led a quiet life and kept below the official radar.

Brett
