Jon,

A Talana and Elandslaagte in the same image. That has made my day!

Only 37 Talanas to the NCs so a very rare award and one I continue to look out for.

I see that Trooper Spencer was a ganger in the NGR and did quite well for a railway man.

Thanks again for these

Hello Jon,
Very nice examples, thank you for sharing.

Evening Gents

After about 20 years of collecting and being hampered, as we all are, by financial constraints and the availability of suitable items to fill gaps, I was able to complete my Natal Carbineers collection with these two examples. Be patient Frank!!
I have casualties to a NC at Colenso, at Ladysmith as well as a double issue amongst the several in my collection. The Natal units allows one to collect a wide assortment of clasp combinations and I hope that these two show that they are out there, you just have to be patient.

These two, are to:
202 TPR R. SPENCER : NATAL CARBNRS, TALANA, DOL, TVL, LN, SA1901

171 SERJT C.A. CARBUTT : NATAL CARBNRS, ELANDS, DOL, TVL, LN
(this one with good provenance judging by the affixed sticker...)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend

Jon

Hi Jon,

Two very nice desirable medals, well done. I don't know about being patient though, I am sixty in Nov and the thought of waiting twenty years..........

Cheers,

Jim

Mike,

The naming on this particular medal is intriguing. The seller says the name has been corrected.

Would it be more accurate to say the name has been re-engraved?

Regards
David
