In the sale catalogue for DNW's July sale, is the fabulous group to Major J. F. Wolmarans, Staats Artillerie, later 4th South African Mounted Rifles, containing his Boer War DTD and Great War DSO.



The notes say "Of the 600 or so recipients of the D.T.D., only 18 had won the D.S.O. during the Great War."

I am searching for the DTD for one of these, W Holl ( www.angloboerwar.com/forum/14-missing-me...m-and-vm-to-g-w-holl )

Does anyone have a list of the other 16 and is 16 the correct number?

I presume that you must have approached the famous collector in the Free State about the list of men with the DSO/DTD? If not, he may not visit this forum and might be unaware of your query.

In a City Coins auction a few years back there was such a group, a member on the BMF bought it I think, and Henk Loots had an article, I think, on it. Or there was a write up anyway. I seem to remember the number 70 for such combinations, but I may be mistaken.

This group is in Castle in Cape Town. Sorry about the quality of the picture, I took it with my cell phone.
