A card, apparently from 1913, which I haven't seen before showing Sherlock during the charge:

A nice enough medal but DNW state Sullivan "participated in the sole squadron's famous charge at Elandslaagte" which is very misleading. 5th Lancers had two squadrons at Elandslaagte, one of which charged and the other which qualifeid for the clasp but took no part in the battle. It is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to prove whether or not most of the qualified men took part in the charge. For my money a QSA with Elandslaagte to the 5th Dragoon Guards is much more desirable as they had only one squadron at the battle and it took part in the charge.

Hello David,
You had to be actually in or attached to "C" Squadron, but, to the best of my knowledge, a nominal roll has yet to be discovered, yes a super piece, but, a medal to a member of the 5th Dragoon Guards is better!
Kind regards Frank

Paul,

I imagine you must have quite a wishlist?

This one has a few edge knocks which is a shame.

Best wishes
David
