I suppose like all collectors of the QSA medal it is a goal to acquire all the clasps available.
Before the weekend I needed four Elandslaagte,Rhodesia and the Mafekings.
Well I still need the Mafekings  but I now have Elandslaagte and Rhodesia.

15466 Trooper Robert Alfred Lewis Sharpshooters 75th Coy 18th Imperial Yeomanry
Robert was born in 1862 at Seaton Carew which is the next town to Hartlepool then Co.Durham.
I jumped at the chance of this medal as this is a local man to me Seaton Carew is ten minutes from my home.
Robert attested for the Mounted Sharpshooters in Edinburgh on 20th March 1899 for short service.
His description is listed as 5 feet 10 inches and weighing 160lbs quite a large frame for that period
Trooper Lewis spent 12 days on Home Service before being posted to South Africa on 7th April 1900 were he served for 1 year and 13 days returning home on 20th April 1901.
On his service records under "Campaigns" is listed S.Africa-Coops Kraal though I am not sure if it is "Coops" If any one can offer any information I would be gratefull.
Robert was awarded the QSA with clasps Cape Colony,Orange Free State, Transvaal, SA1901 and of course Rhodesia.
Trooper Lewis was discharged on 21st June 1901

Thank you for looking
Paul :)

Hello Paul,
Well, I'm glad that you managed to get a Rhodesia clasp, as I said in your post on IY medals, the IY is the easy way to get this particular clasp, however, they are not very common anymore and like everything else, they have gone up in price.
Good too, for you, that this man was local to you, nice that you can see where he came from, the places that would be a familiar sight to him, is his home still standing?
Regards Frank
