From BidorBuy. Price around R30,000 or £1,400

CGHGSM (1) Bech (550 Cpl. R.B. Christie C. Pol.)
QSA (2) CC DoM (550 Corpl. R.B. Christie Cape PDI.)

The seller says:

Fresh to the market after being locked away in a collection for over 20 years.

Wounded at Mafeking and mentioned in The Mafeking Mail Special Siege Slip of 22nd May 1900.

"Corporal R.B. Christie C.P D.1 who, from a wound received during the siege, is unable to carry a rifle, carried messages throughout the day between Captain Lord C Bentinck and Sub-Inspector Harvey, and took food down to his comrades in the river bed, all his journeys for either purpose being performed under heavy fire"

Come with a copy of the Siege slip where he is mentioned as well as a copy of Baden Powel's report on the siege, where Christie is also mentioned.

CC and DoM is an impossible combination. The roll confirms DoM, added 17 Oct 1905 (WO100/240p209). DoK and OFS crossed through.

Hi,
I'm new to this forum. I have quite a few QSAs and, after reading this topic, thought I might post my sole Cape Police medal group. I'd be most grateful for any comments - I know little about the Cape Police's role in the Boer War.
This group came with a WW1 pair to, I presume, a relative.

Cape of Good Hope General service Medal bar Bechuanaland, 53 Pte. C Brown, Cape Police (confirmed on Forsyth roll)
QSA four bars R of Mafeking, D of Kimberley, OFS, Trans., 53 Pte C Brown Cape Police
KSA two bars. 53 Pte C Brown, Cape Police DI
Kimberley Star
Roll of Defence of Kimberley gives first name as “Charles”

BWM,VM Pte R Brown 2nd SAI (there is no number on either the BWM or the VM)
