Thanks David, i will have a look through a few things i have when i get home tomorrow. I do have a group to a CP chap that has his KSA named to the FID.

Hello David,

It appears that Capt Arthur Bates resigned from the CP on 07/02/1901 and joined Warrens Mounted Infantry on the same day and served with them until 01/08/1901.

So no KSA entitlement.

Born in Middlesex 23 November 1872. Enlisted in the CP D2 (219 Third Class Constable) in Kimberley, 21 April 1896. Served in the Bechuanaland Rebellion 1896-7 (CGHGSM (1) Bechuanaland). Second Class Constable 3 November 1897. On 23 February 1898 he was fined £1 for disobedience of orders. On the same day he was fined £1 for falsifying a patrol sheet. On 10 August 1898 he was fined £1 for being absent without leave. Part of the winning tug-of-war team at the gymkhana, 10 December 1899 (MM031, 12 December). Possibly the Brown who was a half back in the football match against the Protectorate Regiment (MM065, 3 February). First Class Constable 1 January 1901. Corporal 1 July 1902.

KSA re-issued 28 January 1910.

He married Susan Muller in Mafeking, 4 August 1904. He died 10 May 1907 in Kimberley.
