There is something written after the 1899 at the right of the nominal roll but that part of the page is missing.

There was a man of this name linked to Kitchener's Horse. He could not be found, was not on the medal roll and there is no attestation paper for him.

Yes, DFH is the Diamond Fields Horse.

Thank you David - I had seen that entry but, not knowing the significance of those codes in the columns to the left, I disregarded it.

Service, albeit with KH for only a few months, would explain his OFS clasp.

QSA (4) Relief of Mafeking, Defence of Kimberley, Orange Free State, Transvaal (228 Tpr J D Buckley, KLH).

Hammer price £550.

James Daniel. Served 16 March 1900 to 5 June 1900. Also served KTG (No 6 Redoubt) and FID.

QSA (1) Defence of Kimberley (Pte. R. Switzer. Kimberley Town Gd:)

Robert Edwin Switzer served during the Defence of Kimberley in No. II Section, B2 Company, No. 3 Redoubt; and also in No. III Section, C Company, Pickering’s No. 1 Redoubt. He is also recorded as having served with the Kimberly Light Horse as a Trooper, serving at the Relief of Mafeking; and later serving with Scott’s Railway Guards in the Orange Free State.

Sold with copy clasps form Relief of Mafeking and Orange Free State.
