It was interesting yesterday to see the relatively low cost of the QSA/Kimberley Star pairs at Noonan's yesterday.

The pair to Private Page, KTG, sold for a hammer price of GBP 300. Total GBP 386. R 8,780. AUD 720. NZD 800. CAD 660. USD 480. EUR 440. A few months ago Liverpool Medals were asking £545 for a single Star.

The other hammer prices for QSA/Kimberley Star combinations were £320, £360, £360 and £410.

Quite a few of the lots of Warwick and Warwick's auction failed to sell and there were some very reasonable prices realised.

This trio sold for a hammer price of GBP 60. Total GBP 73. R 1,630. AUD 140. NZD 150. CAD 130. USD 90. EUR 90

Although they could possibly have fetched more, the Murray medals had more wrong with them than just the renamed QSA. British War Medals and/or Victory Medals named to the SA Irish imply (incontrovertibly) that there was a 1914/15 Star awarded for service in German South West Africa - which is the only theatre they were deployed in as a unit.

It's a double whammy then - renamed QSA and missing 1914/15 Star.

Regards

Rory
