Yes, I think so. Plus the date August (?) 1910.

Patrick,

His KSA (2) is listed on WO100/336p157 with the surname Duerdon. The note attached says the KSA was returned to the Mint 15 June 1910. The remarks on the roll say 'To Army Reserve'. The roll is dated 8 Dec 02.

So did he desert from the Army Reserve? Can you even do that?

So perhaps the date on the QSA roll is 6/10 which would make more sense?

Yes, that fits. I wonder why one medal was returned and the other wasn't?

I would guess that the KSA was not issued to him as he had, by that time, temporarily left His Majesty's service and that the medal hung around until someone decided to so something about it. Why that took 7 years is another question!

I was intrigued by this trio in the next Kaplan sale;

Three: Lieut F.G. YATES
SAGS 1879 bar Sapper F.G. Yates 5th Comp Royal Engineers, renamed but confirmed on roll;
QSA 1 Bar Defence of Kimberley Lt F.G. Yates Kimberley T.G;
Kimberley Star unnamed

There is certainly a Lt F G Yates on the KTG roll.

I am having trouble verifying entitlement to the SAGS. On the 5th Co RE roll for the SAGS, WO 100/46p14 there is 14257 Sapper W J Yates.

I cannot find any F G Yates entitled to the SAGS. Can anyone else?
