This QSA disc is mounted in an attractive silver, bevelled edge mount. It's been cleverly done so that the disc is hinged, it can be reversed and the recipient's details can be read.

The QSA was awarded to 5704 Pte P. Finley Cheshire Regiment who was wounded at Jacobsdal on 14th February 1900.

Have others come across brooch mounted QSAs?

Justin

Hi Justin,
That is a nice example, a very attractive brooch too, I do see them from time to time, but, I have never bought one, your man was issued with two clasps Cape and OFS!
It is the sort of thing I used to see years ago in the antique market area at Camden Passage, just a short walk from the Angle, but, I have not been there for years.
Kind regards Frank

2467 Pte J Ryder? (The hole for the swivel pin is where I presume the letter "D" is in the surname) S.Lanc Regt

Superb looking, are they actual clasps heated up and bent around the the medal to form a frame?

Hi Frank

Yes they are. It is a superb piece. I was chuffed when I got it some time back.

Regards
Anthony

I concur! :woohoo: it is 2467 Private Ryder, invalided to England and medal issued on the 23rd? of February 1904, with those very clasps.
