That is an amazing story and thank you for posting it. I can understand why that pair of medals is amongst your favourites. It seems that there is always something new to learn about the Boer War.

And 10 to the Cape Railway Pioneer Regt. Either a lot of recognition for the importance of trains, or an unusually high percentage.

Railways were very important and this corps did a lot of hard work, many men of this very good unit often got involved in some sharp desperate fighting in order to keep things moving.
