I think you paid a fair price for Frost's medals and it time it will be seen as a bargain.

Hello Ian,
Does WO126/55-65 also confirm John Frost's prior service in the Matabeleland Mounted Police?

Thanks for adding the lists. Pricing is a bit subjective. Some time ago I put in a winning bid with City Coins for a JR (Frost); BSACo and seven bar QSA to ILH. It was expensive but the only one I had heard of. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet. It will be interesting to see if the Friar medal sells.

I have not checked that aspect out. The Owen roll shows service in MRF for 1896 medal and service in Artillery MMP. I was going to get aspects of his service researched as much as it could now be - but it was overtaken by events. When I do so, I will do a post on the pair.

It was quite difficult to figure out what a bid with a reasonable chance of winning actually was. There was no precedent that I could find so it was just a stab. I fear that I may well have set a precedent!

Regards to all

Hello Ian,
Yes, he served in the Matabeleland Mounted Police, the Artillery Troop of Dr Jameson's force and of course, the Matabeland Relief Force, during the campaign in Rhodesia later that same year which earned him his BSA Co medal.

Thanks for that! I hate to sound slack about research - but the end of 2010 and up to the middle of 2011 things were really fraught at work and Mr. FROST just got sidelined. Mea Culpa, etc.
Best regards
Ian.

Hello Ian,
I'm very much afraid my Latin is, inter alia, often found to be wanting! :(
Kind regards Frank
