I have always liked the raised dates QSA and thought, very much like the DOM bar, that all collectors should have one!

Hello Mike,

These two articles (Ottawa Journal, 12/03/1901 & 20/04/1901) appear to refer to the presentation of the watch, although it is simply called a "testimonial". The presentation was accompanied by an address, and took place on 13th March 1901.
Afterwards, Doherty left his parents' home, Doherty Hall, Ramsay (5km NW of Carleton Place), and travelled to his own farm near Elkhorn, Manitoba.

By the way, does the inscription read "Charlton" or "Carleton"? (for my tribute watch database)

Neville
