One for our South African members perhaps. Could someone please confirm the spelling and tell me exactly where De Jagers or De Jaggers farm is at Slapkrantz or Slaapkrans? Also, am I correct in thinking that this is an area rather than a place?

Thank you

There is a De Jagers drift in Natal, I couldn't link it to the above.
Is it reference to the Wiltshire Regiment and Slabberts Nek and Slaap Krantz, Surrender Hill ?

Best regards,

Thank you Dave,

Yes, it is a question in relation to the Wiltshire's. Colonel Carter was wounded at the farm on the 28th of July 1900. The casualty roll gives Slapkrantz as the location, but Regimental records give the exact location of De Jaggers Farm and I've never been able to locate it. I'll look at the position you have kindly found.

Thanks again

Ian

I'm not convinced that this is the right place, as it looks too far away. It's a complete puzzle to me. Of course the farm may also have been renamed several times by now.

Thank you Dave; much appreciated. I've just been looking on Google maps at this area. This makes me think that Slapkranz might be the name for the mountains or hills in the area. I still have no idea where the farm is or was located, but it must be nearby.
