Can anybody advise where this place is please?

I believe it will probably be south of Bulawayo as the Rhodesia Regiment made camp there in September 1899 undergoing field training before moving down towards the Limpopo.

Could it be UMZINGWANE?

The spelling has a lot of similarities the only doubt I have is the geography as Milligan states in his letter (see attachment) they are to move 150 miles to the front. I take this to be the Limpopo. Does this help?

The Mzingwane River, formerly known Umzingwane River or Umzingwani River is a major left-bank tributary of the Limpopo River in Zimbabwe. It rises near Fort Usher, Matobo District, south of Bulawayo and flows into the Limpopo River near Beitbridge, downstream of the mouth of the Shashe River and upstream of the mouth of the Bubye River.
