A couple of pics from a recent visit to Platrand

This is quite an interesting monument on Caesar's camp, in honour of those Burghers of Jewish descent who died for the Republican cause during the ABW

The monument to the Burghers that died during the assault on Platrand. Rather unusual, maybe a Henry Moore creation? :S

The Hussar monument with a piece about the Manchesters. Sadly I didnt see the Manchester fort due to a thunderstorm.

Iain,
The actual site of Manchester Fort, would, for me at least, remain forever part of Greater Manchester!

Hi Frank,

I can actually understand that, I was very disappointed that I was unable to get to see it. As I mentioned earlier, it is also difficult terrain.

regards, Iain

Iain,
That third pic, at the bottom of the memorial, there appears to be another stone on the groud, what is that, is it original wartime graffito?

Hi Frank,

I'm really not sure whether it's original graffiti or visitors, do you recognise any names?

I happened upon this site on Flickr which has all the graves of the Manchester's but not just from the ABW; if it's of interest to you?
