At the National Archives, section WO128 contains papers for the men of the IY. It would be worth accessing these or asking a research at the NA to do that for you. Or you can use FindMypast. The papers, if present, would contains some biographical details.

He appears in the medal roll WO130/196 where the title of the regiment/unit is 'Unposted IY'. He earned clasps CC and SA01. A note says he left at 'own request 12 July 1901'.

I remember your other post on the man you are looking for in the Lancashire Fusiliers thread, but, as I said to you back then, you really are merely speculating that this might be the man you are looking for just because of the particular name in question.
May is a very common name and the papers of the particular man in question could well no longer exist today.
