I fear that my knowledge of whereabouts of units in India is pretty much limited to what I can find in my copy of the RA History and British Battles and Medals. It would be helpful if you knew which battery DMcK served in during his time in India. You should be able to ascertain that from his service papers. He could have simply been in India on garrison duties; or else saw action on the Frontier. Good luck with your seeking out his medals; you might also try an ad in Medal News (medal tracker, I think it is called).

Lin has just raised another point in one of her other posts on this man, can you begin to imagine what might have been if he had remained in the 21st upon being recalled from the reserve and arriving in South Africa?
