Where can I find the Service records of my Great-Uncle Herbert Emerson, enlisted as a Yeoman Private in the 4th Contingent Glamorgan, of the Imperial Yeomanry, 1st Battalion to South Africa. Can anybody help me?
regards, Norman Johnston. Ex 11th Hussars PAO.

Norman,

I had a look on FindMyPast and his records are not listed there unfortunately.

There are two men of this name on the IY rolls:

Emerson Herbert 9926 Sergeant 4th Co 1st Bn. IY
Emerton Herbert 43447 Trooper 136th Co 30th Bn. IY

I believe the papers for the IY are in WO128 at the National Archives.

To David, thank you very much for your efforts on my behalf,I believe you have found
my Great-Uncle. It must be Sergeant Herbert Emerson No 9926, this Army or Regimental No. 9926 had been given me some time ago, by a Military researcher in Cardiff. How do I go about finding out more details of his Service Details.
Again, thanks, Norman
