I have a copy of an extract from a diary, kept by my grandfather, Alfred Edward Smith (born in Essex in 1879), about his service in South Africa with the Royal Ordnance South Africa Corps over 1901-02. However, I have not been able to find any record either of Alfred Edward Smith, or of the Royal Ordnance South Africa Corps. Was the Corps known by a different name? Obviously, I would also be grateful for any information about Alfred Edward Smith, who may have been injured during his service in South Africa.
