Henry Tapua Athelstane Stephenson of Russell, Bay of Islands served in the New Zealand 9th contingent in South Africa late in the war, leaving NZ in March 1902. When the war ended he is understood to have taken his discharge in South Africa and to have become a telegraphist at Komatipoort. However, he died of enteric fever on 11 January 1903. He is commemorated by memorials in his home town, including historic Christ Church, Russell, but he is presumably buried in Komatipoort. Is anyone able to confirm that? I would be grateful for any information you can provide.
