I am trying to identify the individual in the attached photo. I believe it may be Thomas Ackrill Dakin (born 1877) who went to South Africa. There is a reference to a T A Dakin on the Ancestry Website (Medals and Awards 1793 to 1949) having served in the South African Light Horse. The picture was handed down through the family with others depicting scenes from the region. Any help with identifying features in the picture that might help confirm this would be gratefully received.

The tail feathers of the long-tailed widow bird ('sakabula') that adorn the slouch hat of the man in the photo are distinctive of the South African Light Horse.
