:woohoo: I am attempting to find out my Grand Fathers Name but all I have is the Nickname he was given on board the HMS Powerful during the Boer War which is "SNOWY" I do not know how that name is going to help but I am hoping in some way it will help

It looks like you have set yourself quite a challenge!

Here is list of the men who served on board HMS Powerful . A first step would be to have a look through these names to see whether his nickname was in any way linked to his surname.
