I am trying to research William Middleton Clark who served in Kitcheners Fighting Scouts. I have searched Ancestry but had no luck.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning,
Clark is clearly shown in WO100/257 in regards to his medal entitlement, the next thing to do would be to check WO126/76-82 at Kew, hopefully his paper will have survived.
He appears to have transferred to their second regiment on the 29th of April 1901 after joining the first regiment at Durban on the 15th of January that year.
Regards Frank Kelley

Good evening here :-)
Thank your for your help. I had started to go through the medal rolls but I was having to go through page after page which was loading so slowly I gave up.
Hopefully series 126 is available online which I am going to try and look at right now.
Cheers
Craig

No, you would have to go to Kew, sit in the reading room, having ordered the box and then go through it's contents, or merely have someone do it for you, why the particular interest in Clark, was he a family member of yours perhaps?

That would be an expensive trip Australia to Kew :-) I have made an application for some digital service, if that does not work I will have to find a researcher. I have had his medal and photo and years and have finally got around to trying to find out a bit more about the man. Curiosity is getting the better of me. Thank you for your advice.

I actually quite like the KFS, I think these days many people just glance at their medals and really have little further interest, simply because they tend to look a little bit dull.
Which is a shame, these men were anything but dull, whilst they had been originally raised for "general" service within the SAMIF in Pretoria on the 23rd of November 1900, they certainly had, by Christmas, the following year, actually become a very specialist anti commando unit.
A number of it's rank and file saw out the final months of the war up in the Waterberg, chasing wretched Beyers and his men, with all the available members of the Pietersberg Light Horse and a special squadron of Steinaecker's Horse.
