How can I trace the Service Record (and Early Life & origins) of this Boer War Veteran ?
Note - JOSEPH GILL appears to be a common name!

Joseph Gill b. (1872) Wem, Salop (per 1911) Census
Father - Thomas Gill (Foreman Bricklayer (per Marriage Cert of 1907) when he married Catherine Maria Williams at Holywell, Wales.
Served with The NORTH LANCASHIRE REGIMENT
Served 2yrs 7mths in in Boer War
Enlisted 1884 - North Lancashire Regt
Served 17yrs 171 days
Demobilised 1902
8th Feb 1915 - Volunteered for WW1 age 48yrs

3rd BATTALION
Employed on Transport conveyancing troops to France
18th May 1917 - Discharged - sent home, age 50yrs
Worked on Munitions until Armistice.
Died after Industrial accident, leaving Widow destitute with six young children.
Buried in Ellesmere Port Parish Churchyard (1919) in CWWG
Acc. to Local Press, Funeral paid for by National Federation of Discharged and Demobilised Sailors and Soldiers with help from Salvation Army.
