I am researching John Gardner Hayes as part of a project to uncover the stories of the men on my local war memorial in Newbury, Berkshire. He died in 1917 while serving with the RGA.
In 1899 he enlisted into the RAMC (no 12532) and served from 1900-1903 in South Africa. According to his service record he was awarded bith the QSAm and KSAM (as one would expect.
I have been able to find his medal roll entry for the KSAM on Ancestry - under the name J E Hayes - but not the QSAM entry.
The record for J E Hayes at FindMyPast suggsts his QSAM roll entry is in WO 100/219 - which narrows it down to 530 pages!
He served in South Africa as an orderly with the 15th Brigade Field Hospital.
Can anyone help me narrow down my search - to the page would be superb, but a page for any man from the same unit could be really useful (the roll seems to be a sequence of unit reports).
