I believe my Great Grandfather, Joseph Ralph Elliott born Jan 1873 in Ireshopeburn, Stanhope County Durham may have served in the Boer War. Sorry, don't have a photograph of him to post.

I searched on Forces war records and came up with these possible people
Joseph Elliott 21467 Trooper 1902 Imperial Yeomanry
J R Elliott 2778 Private 1902 Coldstream Guards

Hi Susan,

If you search the FindMyPast site, you will be able to see if there are papers relating to these men. If they exist, they will give you biographical information to (hopefully) confirm one is the man you are seeking.

There is a charge to see the records on FMP. Alternatively, any existing papers will be available at the National Archives in London.
