Having had some wonderful help on a previous enquiry I thought I would try this again.
I'm not sure if my man served in the Boer War but thought you all might be able to say yeah or nay (and hopefully not maybe
The information I have is:
Captain Thomas Warwick Williams
King's Own Liverpool Regiment
Born c1873 in Dublin. Died 1931.
In 1896 he was gazetted as 2nd Lieutenant in the 5th (Irish) Liverpool Regiment.
Th information I have is that while the regiment itself didn't serve approx 224 men volunteered of which 100 went as a service battalion attached 1st Royal Irish Regiment.
A report in the
Liverpool Daily Post of 18th May 1901 on the return of the "Liverpool Volunteers" by Captain Thomas states, "We arrived at Cape Town on 16th March [1900], and went into camp at Green Point... Whilst here we met the Service Company of the 5th Irish, under Captain Williams."
Would this be my Captain Williams?
In 1911 census he is listed as Captain, Army, Retired Paym.
He was recalled and served with the King's Own Liverpool Regt in the Great War.
Thanks
Eddie
