CARDIFF NURSES FOR THE FRONT.

At a recent meeting of the executive committee of the Cardiff Infirmary, leave was given to the matron (Miss Wilson) and several of the nurses to go to South Africa for service in the Army hospitals. On Saturday an At Home was given at the infirmary in honour of the volunteers by the medical staff, and mementoes were presented to them. They left Cardiff by the six o'clock train this (Tuesday) morning for Southampton, where they will embark on board the steamship Simla. Miss Wilson will be accompanied by Miss White, Miss Francis, and Miss Theophilus. Next Saturday four other members of the nursing staff will leave for the same destination.

TREDEGAR NURSE BACK FROM THE WAR.

Miss Theophilus, daughter of the Rev. T. Theophilus, R.D., vicar of Tredegar, returned to her home on Wednesday from South Africa, where for the last six months she has been attached to the nursing staff of Langman's Hospital at Pretoria. Miss Theophilus, who volunteered her services, was despatched to South Africa under the auspices of Princess Christian's section of the Army Nursing Reserve Force, and after spending a short time at Bloemfontein was attached to the staff of Langman's Hospital at Pretoria, where she remained during the whole time she was at the seat of war. Several flattering tributes have been received by her family from persons of eminence and authority in South Africa of her abilities and devotion to the arduous duties devolving upon her. Although in imminent danger in the performance of these duties during severe engagements she escaped scatheless.

WAR MEDAL FOR A TREDEGAR LADY.

Among the recipients of the South African war medal distributed by the King at Marlborough House, on Monday, was Miss C. M. Theophilus, daughter of the Rev. T. Theophilus, R.D., the respected vicar of Tredegar. Miss Theophilus, who is the only lady recipient of this much-coveted honour in Monmouthshire, went out as a nurse in the early stages of the war, and was in the heart of the campaign during its most trying stages.
