Hi,
Could anyone help me on ANY information about my great grandfather Private William Green of the 1st Royal Dragoons. He served in the Boer War and was wounded ‘dangerously’ in the chest on 7th March 1902 at Senekal, but he did not return to England till 26th July some 4 months later. He was discharged from the army ‘medically unfit’ on 31st March 1903 after 5 years and 22 days in service
For his gallantry he was awarded the South Africa War Medal. A family story says that he saved the life of his commanding officer, Edward Lloyd, being shot at in the process.
I would love to know more about him or see a photo of him in his regiment.

Thanks
Lisa
