Is it possible to see the Date of Birth or age of the men in the Dordrecht District Volunteer Guard?

I noticed a John Nicholas POTGIETER in the guard which is possibly my ancestor Jan Nicolaas POTGIETER born 1866 married 1889 to Ellen DAVIES in Uitenhage both living at the time 30km outside of Uitenhage. Their son John Nicholas POTGIETER's Death Notice in 1965 says that he was born in Pretoria 1895, but could be wrong. They possibly went back to the Eastern Cape during the war.

It's a long shot but some of these smaller units had Attestation Papers which don't provide much detail but might say he is e.g. 23 years old which would give you context.

Adrian Ellard who is a member here runs a research facility and might be able to track down the papers for you if they exist. Hopefully he will see this post.
