I am tryng to trace any Boer War military records for Alfred.

He was born in Burton on Trent in June 1882 and joined the 4th Battalion of the North Staffordshire Regiment in Lichfield on 6 February 1899. I found this information on his military papers but unfortunately very little else survives. His papers for his brief re-enlistment in 1915 don't give any further information about his previous military career.

I have been unable to find him on the 1901 census and this along with a newspaper article from 1915 which states he served 12 years in the army leads me to think he may have been involved in the Boer War.

Any help would be very gratefully received.
