Hello! I inherited this old photo and wish to learn more about it. The handwriting on the back is difficult to read but I believe it says: Allstrong (or Armstrong) Imperial Hospital Corps. No. 14 Gen Hospital Newcastle Natal. Davis

Thank you in advance for any information about this person and/or circumstances.

LMohar,

The IHC was a large unit. If you have a look on this page, it lists the names from the nominal roll including a few Armstrongs.

David Biggins,
Thank you for the response and excuse my ignorance--I had never even heard of the AngloBoer War until yesterday. So was this person from England? (My focus is genealogy). What does the No. 14 Gen. Hospital refer to? He worked for the "hospital"?

Inside the tent is what appears to be a box, with SUN printed towards the top. Immediately below that is "LEVER B.." - Sunlight soap, manufactured by Lever Brothers?

Berenice,

You're right. It is a Port Sunlight box so might it contain soap from their Wirral factory (established 11 years before)?
