Hi there!

I have recently started constructing my family tree and found out about my great great uncle - Gileam Andries Schoombee. He was born on 11.8.1879 and fought in the Anglo Boer War for the ZAR. I found his profile on the League of Veterans (Anglo-Boer War Museum) site, but would like to find out as much about him as possible. The information that I have on him is as follows:
1. Last Officers name: Kmdt Hendrik Lategan
2. Branch: Pretoria
3. He was captured in February of 1901 and sent to India as a prisoner of war - Februarie 1901 gevang Philippolis dist, na Indie
4. Rank: Unknown
Residence: Steynsburg, K.P.

If anyone has any other info on him, please kindly share it?

Kindest regards,
Erin

Hello Erin and Welcome!

It looks like he did not apply for his medal but it may be worth double checking with Dewald Nel (via Contacts on the top menu) to see if any application was made. This would provide information on where he served during the Boer War.

Best wishes
