My grandfather John Jurcich signed up to fight with the British against the Boers when he was working in Australia.
He arrived here from Australia but was not allowed to fight as he was born in Austria. Are there any records of the men who arrived from Australia anywhere? Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum. Many men from the Australasian Colonies travelled to SA to enlist in irregular units; sometimes as horse handlers or indulgence passengers or as deck hands. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing who or when. Do you know which unit your GF attempted to join in Australia? Do you know if your GF did actually manage to join up after he arrived in S.Africa?
Any information might assist further.
Regards
IL.

We have no definite information, that is why I was hoping to find his name on a shipping list or some such.
Thank you anyway.
