My grandfather, John James Burton-Willison (aka Burton and Willison) enlisted in the Imperial Army (sic) in 1904 as a 15-year-old bugler. I am thinking he enlisted or volunteered in the Imperial Yeomanry. He lived in Lambeth in a working-class family of seven children.

I would appreciate any guidance to locating his service records.

Hello Wendy and welcome to the forum.

As your grandfather did not serve in the Boer War, I don't think we can offer a great deal of help. I did have a look on FindMyPast and Ancestry but didn't find any military records.

I wish you well in your search.
