Hoping anyone can please help me with any information i.e military or family ancestry, about my Great Great grand father Peter Mckenzie, who served in the South Africa, 2nd Boer War, service date from 1899 to 1902. I am unable to find any information about him for my family tree. Thank you in advance.

Thank you so much Dave, this is very much appreciated. I seem to be going around in circles with very little information about him. The military information you sent through, will hopefully assist me to find more about our family history from my great great granddads side. Also wondering whether you might know where I can access a picture of Peter from his military records and where I might be able to search or access his birth records, as I would dearly love to know the names of his mother and father. My grand dad is Robert Herbert McKenzie. Thank you in advance.

Not sure on the photograph Mike
As for birth certificates, you can order one through Ancestry.
Not sure if Ancestry Scotland would be your best bet.
As for your G G Grandfather's parents.......see attached.

I think this could be them?
I wish you well in your quest into your family history.

Hi Dave

Thank you again for all your time and information you have sent through to me. This will be a great start! Would you know by any chance how I can find out if Peter McKenzie married? From what I can gather from my family tree, my great grandfather (Robert Herbert McKenzie) was one of Peter's sons. We cannot find any records if Peter married which could suggest he may not of married. I am going to try your suggestion to contact Ancestry, Scotland to see if they have any records of Robert's birth certificate as this might show who his mother was and may include her maiden name. Thank you again Regards Tina MacKenzie
