Hi

Several of my family were involved in the Boer War: Augustus George William Seton-Burn, possibly his brother Henry; Arthur Wingate Pearse and Stephen Wingate Pearse; Colin Eric Smith Neill. Any information whatsoever would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello Anniestg and welcome to the forum.

Can you tell us what you have found out so far about your ancestors in the Boer War?

Kind regards
David

Hi David

Not a great deal I'm afraid. They are not included in the 1901 census - my automatic reaction to that is "if not in UK, where might they be?" and South Africa seems a logical answer (there are others obviously, but South Africa is the one that springs to mind) Arthur and Stephen Wingate Pearse are the sons of an English rector; Augustus and Henry are the sons of an Indian Army officer. Colin was also the son of an Army officer, born in India - most of that side the family seem to have the military in their blood.
