Trying to find service record of David Hunter who was married to my Mother's Aunt. Think he was killed in action. He came from Scotland and married Lucy Cole (my mother's aunt) in Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland. I believe he may have served with the Johannaburg Mounted Rifles. Think he may have been buried in South Africa. How can I find any details about his army life. Many thanks if you can help. Tom Lambe

Hello Tom,
The Johannesburg Mounted Rifles was a pretty good SAMIF unit, surviving attestation and discharge papers for their enlisted ranks are at The National Archives, Kew, London in WO126/67-73, their nominal roll is in WO127/11 and their medal roll is in WO100/253, the nominal roll is here on this site and their medal roll is also available on line.
WO127 shows Hunter as Discharged Time Expired on the 19th of April 1902 and WO100/253 shows his Queens South Africa medal and Transvaal clasp on page 25 and on page 202 for the South Africa 1901 and 1902 clasps.
Welcome to this forum, kind regards Frank
