This relative served in the war in 1900 to 1902. His medals are the QSA with 5 clasps and the KSA with 1901 and 1902 clasps.
I cannot find him in any of the records on this wonderful site.
Any reason why?

Thanks

Elandorrt,

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I have few records on the RAMC on this site so far.

I checked FindMy Past and there are no service records for JJ Tuohy which is a shame.

From the medal rolls, he served with the 18th Brigade Field Hospital and earned the Transvaal clasp with the 19th Stationary Hospital.

Being involved at Paardeberg, Driefontein and the Relief of Kimberley, he would have had a busy time.

The QSA rolls shows 5 clasps (Paar, Drie, RoK, Tr). Can you tell me the 5th clasp on the medal please?
Best wishes
David

Thank you for the information on the unit John served with. Is it possible to break that down further?
I'm sorry to tell you that his file does not record the 5th clasp.
I have his records from the National Archives and you are welcome to a copy which I can send you by separate email ,if you wish.

Regards

Garry

Garry,

Do you have his medals to identify the fifth clasps? Which records do you have from the NA?

I do not have detailed records of the hospital units but if you search the site for the exact phrase 'field hospital' you can read about their work.

Best wishes
David

David,
Thanks for that info.
I only have his records, not the actual medals.
His files are WO97 records and consist of 10 pages which I have as jpg files.
Let me know if they are of interest as they show him transferring to the RAMC from his first regiment.
Regards
