I got Kevin Asplin of Forces War Records to investigate my grandfather and what he found matches with my mothers memories ie his time in the Boer war then India and then in France for WW1.
I seems that all my grandfathers records were destroyed in the fire bombing in 1941 so his story had to be constructed from medals awards and regimental diaries ect.

Hi, I just joined today and am researching my grandad. Have posted in INTRODUCTIONS. All I have is a letter from 1966 from MOD with his QSA records and statement 'nothing further due to 1940 enemy action" sounds similar. What next?
