Hello, I'm new to this site, so I need a little help.

I'm trying to find the full names and details of two Uncles of my Grand-Father (Oupa). The surname was Van Niekerk, and they were from farm "Langkloof" in the Pearston area (Eastern Cape). The story I was told by my Oupa was that his Uncles refused to fight, and one of them was shot by the British in the mountain above their farm, and the other was tied to a chair and shot in the street in Pearson.

I'd like to know if this story is true, and what their full names were.

Anyone got any idea where I can look for this information?

Reference: David and Taffy Shearing, 2011. The Rebel Record Vol III p850.
Sybrand Gerhardus Van Niekerk. Born in Pearston, Resident in Riebeeck East - did not intend to rebel, but signed by his brother. Family legend says he was killed in the war. No further record.

The battle at Paardefontein - north of Pearston - no record of a Van Niekerk captured or killed there.

Regards
