Does anyone know which columns and officers were involved in the capture of Scheepers? Who was the officer who actually captured him?

Cheers
Ryan

I've always believed he surrendered to Captain Shearmann of the 10th Hussars.

Perhaps, I should add, certainly from memory, that he had been taken ill, so he had no choice in the matter, both he and his men had been pursued by Colonel Scobell, again, from memory, a 5th Royal Irish Lancer, throughout October 1901 and after being taken ill, his location was revealed, so his capture became just a matter of time, I think given the state he was in, it was actually quite deliberate.

Hi Ryan
Shearman is correct.
You should get "Commandant Gideon Scheepers and the Search for his Grave" by Taffy and David Shearing in which the events before and after his capture are dealt with in detail

Gentlemen,
I have always wondered what might have been had he not been left at Kopjeskraal, if he had avoided capture and survived beyond Vereeniging just what might have been, doubtless, he might have gone the way of Beyers in 1914, anyway, he was certainly looked after by K.
