I have read the names of the regiments that defended Wepener. I have read that when a relief column began shelling near the town, the Boers retreated. I am researching the service of Lt..Harold Chapman of the British South Africa Pollce, who was awarded a QSA medal clasp for Wepener. Does anyone know the number of troops in the relief column and how many BSAP were involved and who was their CO? Thanks

ErnBarn,

I am currently researching Wepener for my next book and have been working on the roll for some time. As far as I am aware, there are no men from the BSAP on the Wepener roll. I checked Lt Chapman's entitlement on WO100/238p15. He received QSA (3) Rhod RoM Tr and KSA (2) which is more usual for the BSAP.

If you have the medals, could you post a picture of his clasps please?

I don't know how many men were involved in the relief. The CO of the BSAP was Lt Col W Bodle CMG.

Kind regards
David
